Research has found that beetroot juice – long recommended by prominent naturopaths – is a boon for athletes.
Eight men between 20 and 38 were given a glass of beetroot juice a day by the Sport and Health Sciences department of Exeter University. It was found that when they exercised, they were able to exercise for longer – the beetroot juice appeared to increase their stamina.
The reason found was that the juice seemed to allow the athletes to make more of their oxygen, reducing fatigue.
The professor leading the research said:
“We were amazed by the effects of the beetroot juice on oxygen uptake because these effects cannot be achieved by any other known means.”
After this startling discovery, it is possible that beetroot juice will become popular among athletes everywhere.

Yup! I love beet root. Although it doesn’t taste nice, it could be a great juice that provides lots of benefits to our body. Great to learn something new because I’m haven’t heard about the oxygen uptake part before. What I do know is that beetroot is rich of vitamins and minerals. I used add lots of beetroot in my salad.
Thanks for sharing and helped me to learn something new.
