Hashish – cannabis – has been available for a year or so in California, but ONLY on prescription, and ONLY for medical purposes.
A few months ago a BBC Radio 4 reporter covering the story managed to get a prescription with laughably little effort.
The doctor involved was more than helpful in suggesting an acceptable ‘ailment’ (non-existent) to put on the paperwork. The reporter was then able to find a licensed establishment nearby with a wide range of different varieties of cannabis on display. (His report did seem to tail off at the end…)
If It’s Legal – Tax It
California being on the verge of bankruptcy at present, the citizens of Oakland, California have decided to tax the medicinal cannablis to raise some much needed tax dough.
A Good Tax
It is reported that the cannabis sellers (we refrain from the term ‘dealers’) are actually pleased about the tax as they feel it confers an air of legitimacy.
Funny old world.
