A study of 440 breast cancer patients has found that if they take HRT they are more likely to suffer a relapse within 5 years.
In the study, the Swedish researchers found that 22% of women taking HRT after having had breast cancer relapsed, whereas only 10% of those not taking the drug did so.
Other researchers argued that other studies showed no such tendency; but Dr Lars Holmberg and his colleagues were convinced by the results.
Clearly, it’s best to err on the side of caution and avoid any type of HRT if you possibly can – especially if you have suffered from breast cancer.
