Keeping Exercise On Track

Timer-w200-h200One of my weaknesses, is that I want to work so much that I easily put off ‘maintenance’ jobs. These include clearing my desk, doing my work as treasurer of a club and EXERCISE.

When I started gym training regularly last year I made myself go 3 times a week. I think the key was getting up and putting on my gym gear immediately (as I work for myself, I can go at any time in the day).

Now I realize that weight training is NOT the way to go, I only have to walk ten feet to the end of my office to do my interval training exercise. It’s still not easy for me though; I just want to write that next article, produce that next flyer, or upload a web page.

So I resort to a timer. That works well for me. It’s because I don’t want to ‘tear myself away from the computer NOW’, but I am fine setting a timer to tear me away in an hour or an hour and a half.

The timer (electronic) sends off a loud, annoying klaxon and I meekly turn it off and start my exercise session.
