This means that embryonic stem cell research, which offers huge potential for treating cancer, heart disease and most of the other degenerative diseases which blight mankind, can proceed.

Previously, stem cell research was possible; but companies who did it found it hard to get federal funding for other research. They had to rely on private funding.

Bush was pushed into banning the funding by powerful pro-life campaigners, who declared it immoral. However, this group is in the minority compared to the numbers who want cures for cancer – which the research is very likely to advance.

Stem Cell Research in the UK

Britain – who is very advanced in stem cell research – will be boosted by the reverse of US government policy and UK research will now be carried along in the wake of US research.

We will, I am sure, see tremendous advances in health treatment in the next 10 years thanks to embryonic stem cell research.
