The latest craze for some celebs who are fearful of beads of perspiration tainting their designer dresses, is to have Botox injections into the armpits. Low-dose injections of Botox just under the skin interrupts the nerve impulses to the sweat glands and stops the sweat being produced. For it to be effective, about a dozen injections are necessary for each armpit.
The injections have some application for sufferers from hyperhydrosis – excessive sweating – with affects a small number of people who are nearly incapacitated by it.
But having a poison injected just to reduce your wrinkles, or or save a few stains on your clothing, is excessive.
Question: Would you consider mild Botox injections to reduce sweating for cosmetic purposes? Post a comment.
