Following my trip to Dr Terry Grossman's anti-aging clinic in Denver, Colorado I am now waiting for the blood test, and other test, results to come in. These include some DNA tests.

Following my trip to Dr Terry Grossman‘s anti-aging clinic in Denver, Colorado I am now waiting for the blood test, and other test, results to come in.

I am not concerned about the blood tests as I the ones I had a year ago were the first comprehensive tests I had done and anything too bad would have come out then. So these ones will just fine tune last years’ results. It’s the first set of blood tests that can be a bit nerve-wracking!

DNA Testing

Slightly more concerning are that I have had some DNA tests done too. These will show if I have an above average propensity to develop certain degenerative diseases. One of them, for example, is Alzheimers’ disease. While that won’t be nice to know; at least I can do something about it in advance – some preventive treatment. The clinic only tests the DNA for those diseases for which there is some treatment.

Further Tests

Additional tests I have not had done before are being carried out on ‘bodily fluids’. Samples – of urine, stool and saliva were taken before leaving America and FedEx-ed to a lab for analysis.

Final Meeting – For This Year

In about 6 weeks, when all the results are in, Terry Grossman will be sending me a huge package of results and recommendations. After I have digested that, I will arrange a ‘video Skype’ consultation for an hour or so to discuss the whole thing with him and tie up any loose ends.

Annual Health Check – Vital For Good Health

An annual health review, with blood tests, is a good idea. In fact, it is a habit for very many Americans (and very few of the British). It is very tricky to arrange a comprehensive anti-aging based review in the UK. The ones I have seen I am not impressed with.

Please comment if you know of any thorough UK anti-aging programmes you know about which you think are worthwhile.

I plan to return for a shorter consultation with Terry in about a year.

Question: Would you have DNA tests – if they could identify future ailments you might be prone too? Or is that too scarey…? Leave a comment.

————————————–
